Assignments and Grading
During this semester students will be expected to:
q Participate in the classroom discussions.
q Complete homework assignments
q Read all assigned readings: Scripture, text book, periodicals, and others
q Write opinion or research papers on various assignment.
q Be examined on materials discussed in class and the readings
q Complete a project
Our class will be studying issues facing today’s Christians and discussing ways Believers should address these issues. We’ll look at global, social and personal issues. We examine the relevance of the church in the world today and what difference Christian can make in modernity.
We will study some of the following issues:
· Developing a Christian Worldview
· War – the War on Terror
· Caring for Creation – Environment – Dominion
· Poverty - Living with Global Poverty
· Entertainment / Pop-culture
· Political Worldview - Church & State – How are they separate?
· Racism & other isms – Celebrating Ethnic Diversity
· Family - Marriage, Cohabitation & Divorce
· Abortion
· Euthanasia
· New Biotechnology – cloning, stem cell research, etc
· Same-Sex relationships / homosexuality
· Problem with Evil – Suffering – Death – Suicide
· Is being a Christian relevant today? Tactics – Christian Worldview
